Cool Cities

Although the industrial development which leaded the economy to be revival, recently the entire planet faced environmental to main problems such as Rise in population and traffic delay. As a result, these caused the increase in energy consumption which leads to emitting more CO2. Moreover, 90% of the co2 emission to the air comes from building and transportation (Cool City).
The Cool city video emphasize that with the current carbon emission, eventually we need to have another planet to live on. Unfortunately, we can’t replace our planet. Therefore, we should reduce the carbon emission to the air by half (Cool City).
Bradley Hope of the Nation Newspaper considered building a cool city in UAE is a good idea. Because the temperature rises in the summer up to 5o Co and the humidity reaches 97%, people consume a lot of energy to cool down their apartments (Bradley, 2008). The project for building a cool city is designed by a Japanese company called Sustainable Development Consortium of Japan. The video added that the cool city is a proposed modern city. It has self contain cool city network. It has a circle shape with 1 km radius. It consists of public, residential, culture and resort zones. These areas are compactly arrange so it easily accessible on foot. There are three way for transportation among the city and they are cars, solar ships and train Furthermore, it has power plant farm and Jatropha Forrest to prevent sand. There are several techniques use to reduce the heat in the city such as self contain cooling network, roof membrane and using recycled cool air (Cool City).

In my opinion, by good management in consuming fuel, and reducing CO2 emission can overcome the consequences of the industrial revolution. The cool cities can play the role in solving the problem of global warming by reducing carbon emission and allowing people living comfortably.
