The Story of Stuff

The Story of Stuff is a short film that hosted by Annie Leonard. She is an expert in international sustainability and environmental health issues. This film illustrate the side effect our production consumption patterns and how it play a rule on the real life and climate change. Moreover, it discusses the danger of the increase in the consumption of the natural resources and how it is affecting our life on the earth.

Annie indicated that the process used to define our economy today is extraction, production, distribution, consumption and disposal. This linear system of production need infinite of natural resources. As a result, we are running out of resources and especially in the last decade, 1/3 of the world's resource base has been consumed. Annie added, the increase in the natural resource consumption is one of the consequences of the lifestyle that leaded peoples to buy unnecessary items just to meet the tradition of others. The more significant issues in the increase in manufacturing goods is deemed it as one of the factors of the global warming because the process of making them causes carbon emission.

Annie emphasized that Most of stuffs that we buy are contain alot of toxic chemicals. As a result, consumer and factory’s employees are exposed to this massive amount of chemical. Moreover, the productive economy is designed to buying a way of life what make it worse is only one percent of goods in the market can be used for more than si x month. Producer achieve his high selling range by providing stuff with low price, the fact behind this is that the producer attempts for their achievement by effecting poor people's health and consumes their health and the natural resource that their countries have.

There is a big concern on the short life of goods because there will be large amount of them will be Dumped in the trash bin . The current disposal process is basically causes pollution to the planet’s air, land and water. Moreover, the burning of good that contain toxic chemical will emit toxic gas to the atmosphere. Although recycling can help reducing the waste’s amount, not all of the good can be recycled and the amount of good is upstream in production process are more.

Annie ended the filme when she saied Shopping is essential for everybody because it’s the way they can provide their life requirement like food clothes and Home Furniture. However, the danger of using these goods will affect us and our planet. Therefore, people individually and governments should be strict about goods that contains toxic chemical or it is designed to use for short time by creating rules to prohibit such goods. Moreover we should spend our money on things that worth and really required.

In my opinion , In my opinion I agree with Annie and I understand how danger is the increase in the amount garbage and wasting the planet natural resources to our life. Therefore buying less may be the best option of all. this will help reducing the pollution, the waste and the global warming.
